Gun Deaths On College Campuses

In the 2000s there were 68 deaths total on college campuses. Now that may not seem like a lot but it really is. In the 2010s there was a big decrease in deaths, a 38 person decrease making only a total of 30 deaths on college campuses. The most popular or the most popular guns that are used on the students are mostly little hand guns (pistols). Maybe here and there, there will be a rifle used nut mostly pistols.

Past News - College Campuses were probably safer back then

April 16, 2007: "Virginia Tech shooting: A 23-year-old student, Seung-Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 students and faculty before committing suicide. He had enrolled in business information technology, then in his senior year switched his major to English." Aug. 1, 1966: "University of Texas massacre: A 96-minute shooting rampage from the observation deck of The Tower building at the University of Texas-Austin left 17 dead and 31 injured. The assailant was identified as engineering student Charles Whitman, who hours before had stabbed both his mother and wife to death. He was nicknamed the “Texas Tower Sniper.” His rampage ended when Austin police officers shot and killed him." < These are some articles from 2007 and 1966 telling us that colleges were not safer back the but instead maybe even worst than today's college shootings. So colleges were never just "safe" they've always been a concern and problem but till the day their are still massive shootings on College Campuses. Image result for past news about college shootings

Guns mixed with Alcohol and Drugs

The fact that guns are already on campuses, and also the fact that students are going to have lots of drugs and alcohol on them too, if you put those two things together then that could really be a bad thing for everyone. For example when and if a student bring a gun and start shooting other students and the facility, they know what they doing, like they know their shooting and killing people. If a student is high or drunk though, majority of the time they won't know what their doing and they'll end up, if they playing a gun, killing someone and it'll be a accident, like they didn't mean to. They'll still end up going to prison for the crime the committed but it will all be because they made a little mistake by being drunk or high and messing around with a gun.

Gun Rape

Rape is one of the highest ranked crimes in the world today. Rape can happen to anybody, anywhere, any day and you just won't know it'll happen to you until it does. For women, its really a concern because it happens to females obviously more then it does with men. "Past debates in Colorado, Michigan and Nevada have included testimony in support of campus carry laws from Amanda Collins, who in 2007 was raped on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno; Ms. Collins has said that had she been carrying her licensed gun." - This is about a young women who was raped on her college campus, and because of it she started to carry around a gun to make sure she wouldn't get raped again.

Stress in College - Stress may be the reason why students end up killing

According to the 2015 National College Health Assessment, 30% of students reported that stress had negatively affected their academic performance within the past year, and over 85% had felt overwhelmed by everything they had to do at some point within the past year. College is very stressful for the students that attend and having the fact that guns may be aloud on campuses, it makes things worse. For instance, a student will take their on life because they can't take the stress anymore from college professors, and because they have guns on them, they'll probably kill their selves and/or kill someone else like a professor/teacher all because they are too stressed out.
